Freeware & Shareware for Disk Partition Needs

Set partition for some person can be daunting task but as time must goes on the task must be done 🙂

Acronis Disk Director Suite allows you to perform basic as well as advanced disk management operations. With this tool you can resize, move, copy, split, merge, restore and explore partitions without losing your data. The product allows you to install multiple operating systems on your PC and detect operating systems that became unbootable due to some accidental reasons. You can also select the hard disk drive you want to boot from.

I try to list freeware and shareware of partition disk software.

Freeware

1. Ranish Partition Manager

Partition Manager is a freeware program that partitions hard disks. It will help you to install and dualboot Linux and multiple copies of Windows. For example, it will let you to run Win ME, Win 2k, and Linux on a single box. Also, using Partition Manager you can copy, move, and resize disk partitions.

2. Partition Resizer

New features include:

Int13 extensions support allows handling of disks up to 2TB (2048GB) of size.
New Resizing/Moving engine with simpler interface. Move and resize your partitions in one step.

Partition Resizer is a small DOS executable, which requires no installation, and can perform, all these tasks in a short while, giving you the opportunity to re-arrange your partitions safely, quickly and fuss-free.


3. 3D Partition Manager

Live CD

1. Gparted

GParted is an industrial-strength package for creating, destroying, resizing, moving, checking and copying partitions, and the filesystems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, copying data residing on hard disks and mirroring one partition with another (disk imaging).

3. SystemRescueCd

: SystemRescueCd is a Linux system on a bootable CD-ROM for repairing your system and recovering your data after a crash. It aims to provide an easy way to carry out admin tasks on your computer, such as creating and editing the partitions of the hard disk. It contains a lot of system utilities (parted, partimage, fstools, …) and basic tools (editors, midnight commander, network tools). It is very easy to use: just boot the CDROM. The kernel supports most of the important file systems (ext2/ext3, reiserfs, reiser4, xfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs, iso9660), as well as network filesystems (samba and nfs).

4. Trinity Rescue Kit

Trinity Rescue Kit or TRK is a free live Linux distribution that aims specifically at recovery and repair operations on Windows machines, but is equally usable for Linux recovery issues.
It is possible to boot TRK in three different ways:
-as a bootable CD which you can burn yourself from a downloadable isofile
-from a USB stick/disk (optionally also a fixed disk), installable from Windows or from the bootable TRK cd
-from network over PXE, which requires some modifications on your local network.
TRK is a complete commandline based distribution, apart from a few tools like qtparted, links, partition image and midnight commander
